I've found that reading these poems in Full Screen Mode while listening to Counting Crows "Colorblind" rules. Time for some multimedia experimentation!

I feel extremely awkward writing anything right now after reading Neil's 7 Apologies to Kaitlin Elizabeth... I read "Mistake" seven times. It made my entire day today. Thank you Neil for doing what you do. A true honor to know you.

7 Apologies to Kaitlin Elizabeth is definitely a piece that needs to be read a couple times over. I'm intrigued by the structure of the writing. The first prose poem, "Mistake," is certainly the most amoebic: many thoughts meandering in and out of confluence, but with the defining characteristic that they do not obey the rules of everyday prosaic grammar. Each following prose poem makes a step forward, toward something concrete, but also relaxes a little more. This makes me picture a person rebounding from an abyss, but feeling comfortable with some of the knowledge the abyss has provided. In some sense, Neil Kaufman is never free, but in another sense, he's transcended both the abyss and the world he knew before the abyss. There's a great deal of complexity here, and a sense of redemption that stares directly in the face of realism. I can't wait to see where your thoughts wander to in your next piece, Neil. I have no doubt that they will lead you to the right place.

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
